TridonicAtco GmbH & Co. KG is headquartered in Dornbirn/Austria and has 52 sales offices on five continents . The history of the company is more than just the demerger from Zumtobel and complete independence within the Zumtobel group. This was essential in order for the company to be accepted by other luminaire manufacturers as a supplier of components.

The history of TridonicAtco is the history of its products. Curiosity and inventiveness have made the company great. The company has been involved in lighting for around 50 years. The story started in 1956 with the development of compact magnetic ballasts – in the W. Zumtobel KG electrical equipment and synthetic resin works.

In 1978 the first electronic control gear for flicker free economic operation of fluorescent lamps was launched, and ECGs have been developed and improved ever since. Digital dimmable control gear was launched in 1991, a technical innovation that is still paving the way forwards, for example as the basis for DALI and winDIM@net solutions – yet another milestone on the lighting market from TridonicAtco.

New developments are introduced not as replacements for existing equipment but as supplements, so that different requirements and applications can be covered.

History
Following the development of compact magnetic ballasts as far back as 1956, the first electronic ballasts were introduced onto the market in 1978. TridonicAtco’s current worldwide network of excellence has been created through the consistent integration of other companies within the industry. Today, with over 40 inventions and more than 200 patents, we are leading the way in lighting control technology.
