A new widescreen cinema has been opened on the South Bank in the centre of London in a rather unusual location – above a tube tunnel. The glass rotunda de-signed for the BFI London IMAX cinema by the team of architects at Avery Associates is mounted on anti-vibration girders in order to prevent any noise transmission from the tunnel.

The Olympic Games 2000
A sense of achievement
The Olympic Games 2000 in Sydney, Australia were certainly impressive. Almost 300 competitors participated in the numerous sporting events and many set new Olympic and world records. Throughout these three weeks, there was an atmosphere of enthusiasm among both the athletes and the spectators. Many of the competitions were actually held at the "Australia Stadium" – the stadium of superlatives – in Homebush Bay where the opening and closing ceremonies took place.
